Shopify is faster to launch and easy to run yourself. A custom build on Next.js and Medusa costs more but removes monthly fees and platform limits. We pick based on your catalog size and how custom you need to go.
Do we own the store?

Yes, 100%. You get the source code and admin access, under an NDA by default. For Shopify builds, everything sits in your own Shopify account.
